Bluefin Sushi

We made our way out to Plymouth meeting to meet friends on Friday. Since Bluefin was highly rated in Zagats we decided to give it a try.

The bottom line:
Sushi quality: B+
Sushi quantity: very small
Other food: C
Service: D
Atmosphere: C+

We arrived and were seated within 10 minutes of our reservaton. The server took our wine, left menus and disappeared for about 15 minutes. We finally flagged her down and someone else brought the wine back to the table.

We ordered apps, sushi and one of our party ordered chicken teriyaki. The pan fried dumplings were deep fried and greasy. The steamed dumplings and crab/cucumber salad were both excellent. Although be careful the wasabi/pork dumplings were extremely spicy.

We ordered the special noname roll which was shrimp tempura in the middle with spicy yellowtail on top. $14.95. It was very tasty but amounted to six small bites. For that price we expected the large special roll sizes we are used to getting at Mikado. The rainbow roll was really small too. The quality, however, was excellent and very flavorful.

Our friend's chicken was truly disappointing. He didn't even finish it.

They also brought complimentary salmon tempura to the table. We took one bite and left the rest.

the bottom line is go and just get the sushi but be prepared to order twice as much as you would normally.
