Blueberries at the Farmers Market

Stanley Stepan | Jun 17, 200202:51 AM

Lots of blueberries at the Farmer's market this week. Green Valley is back. The stand is next to the date stand across from Acme bread. I highly recommend Green Valley blueberry jam.

Sierra Cascade has some nice plump and tasty blueberries as well. It is located next to Van Moureck nuts on the Embarcadero side of the market.

Berries were slightly tart this week, so next week should be prime time. They will probably only be available at the market about 2 more weeks. Green Valley has two different varieties.

Green Valley also has a recipe for the best blueberry pie I have had in my life. I posted it on the general board. Link is below. It is at the end of a nice article about Green Valley blueberries.

I also like to wash, dry and freeze the blueberries in little tupperware containers. They taste like sherbet. Blueberries are also great diet food. They are low in calories and a natural diaretic.
