I went to Blue Star Cafe for the first time today. It is in an industrial section of downtown at the corner of 15th and Matteo, close to Alameda. This is a place run by a former Boyd Street chef. Its just a little coffeshop style joint that serves breakfast, lunch and (now) dinner. They also have a bar. It seems to be a popular place with the artists and loft dwellers. Lots of tattoos.
The menu was standard breakfast and lunch fare. I had a BLT and my sister got the french dip. The bacon on the BLT was very good, but the tomatoes were lacking any real flavor. I doubt I'd get this again. The french dip however was very good. The sandwiches came with nice thin fries, similar but not quite as good as Angelique's. They have daily specials too. Today's was a 1/2 roast chicken that the next table had. It looked good. They also have chicken fried steak on the breakfast menu that I want to try another time.
All-in-all a place I'll be returning to to try the other dishes. It's always nice to find a new place downtown to eat.
