The BRD folks have a tiny retail operation at 19 Ft. Evans Rd., SE, Leesburg, open Friday and Saturday from 10-5. This place is behind a tv repair shop, in a weird little industrial park with car repair shops mostly. It's also a drive-thru. Truly a unique way to buy top-shelf fresh mozz.
In addition to fresh mozz (which is truly phenomenal), they have applewood smoked mozz, ricotta, mascarpone, yogurt, and a "caprese salad kit" -- fresh mozz, tomatoes, basil, and extra virgin olive oil.
You can make this part of a spectacular and very easy chowhounding Saturday in Leesburg. Start with a hearty breakfast at the venerable Leesburg Restaurant on King St. Then walk down to Leesburg Vintner and pick up some vino from one of Loudoun County's 11 or so wineries. Next make a stop at Mom's Appie Pies, at the funky intersection of Edwards Ferry Rd. and Loudoun Sts (I think). Then proceed to the very good Leesburg Farmer's Market on Catoctin Circle for local corn, tomatoes, string beans, peaches, melons, etc. Continue to Blue Ridge Dairy. Finish by hitting Mighty Midget exactly at 12 noon for ribs.
