I went to Blue Ribbon Sushi on early Thursday evening and was sorely disappointed. My dining companion and I ordered the Toshi's Choice - Chef's choice for our main entree and the live Uni appetizer special. The waiter said that he could work the Uni into our Toshi's choice which is what we did.
The uni was great! It was fresh-tasting, rich but not too rich and extremely delicate. It was the best part of the meal.
Everything else was...mediocre. Our selection included tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, Spanish Mackerel sashimi, Mackerel sashimi, baby salmon sashimi, Sardine nigiri, an Eel roll, a spicy tuna roll and some other white fish nigiri whose names I can't think of now. The eel roll was fair. But, I felt the other fish were not as fresh as it could have been for the price. Some of the white fish looked like it had been kept around a day too long and had no taste to them. The tuna was almost mushy.
Perhaps they had an off night but I don't think I'll be going back for that price. Our Toshi's choice ended up at $100 + drinks. I would much rather go to Geido and pay less for fresher fish.
