Mike Grant, the owner of the Black Cow in Croton, opened his new ice cream store last week. It's marvelous. We've tasted 7 flavors so far, all of which have been excellent: very rich & creamy, very strongly flavored, and only barely sweet. Prices are great, too: $2 for a small cup or cone, $3 for a large. They will happily give tastes and split a cup between two flavors. They also have children's sizes and a range of sundaes, shakes, malteds, toppings, etc. They also serve Black Cow coffee, and offer a "Pig's Red Eye", two scoops of ice cream with two shots of espresso.
Ice cream flavors: Pistachio (chunks of salted pistachios, very interesting), vanilla, cookie dough, mint choc. chip, fudge peanut butter, ginger (laced with bits of fresh ginger), coconut, cookies & cream, banana, butter pecan (extraordinary!), choc. almond chip, black raspberry, chocolate, strawberry (bits of fruit), coffee, green tea (the best I've ever had).
Sorbets & Ices: cantaloupe ice, lemondae, mango, grapefruit, strawberry-kiwi, orange, chocolate.
They are located in the upper village, on Maple (129) at Old Post Rd. Parking is available in a public lot off Old Post Rd.
