Blue Fin Review

My wife and I are big fans of the brguests restaurants (Isabella's and Blue Water Grill, in particular), so we were eager to check out one of their new ventures, Blue Fin, in the W hotel at Times Square. We called to notify them we would be a little late for our reservation and they made it sound like it would be a problem. In reality, we got there about 8:20 for an 8:30 reservation and there were a number of empty tables, which they rushed to seat us at. We sat on the first floor and the atmosphere is awful. The bright lights from Broadway/7th Avenue ruined the mood that we have come to expect from the other establishments of this company, plus it was way too loud. I walked upstairs to find a quieter and slightly darker room and found they had open tables. They told me I could move, but when we gathered our belongings the downstairs matre'd gave us a hard time about moving and told us there were no tables upstairs. He was then put off when I told him I already had one waiting. The service from that point on was good, but not great. The food and menu was along the same lines. It was one of those places we were glad we at least went to, but will not be returning to.
This will not prevent us from trying their latest venture, Fiamma, in SoHo or from returning to Blue Water Grill (our favorite).
