Blue Earth Brie - excellent US brie

I recently tried Blue earth brie.

I sampled some at Cheese Plus market in San Francisco. I was certain it was French, it reminded me of a brie I tried a few months ago that some friends snuck home from France, but it's produced by Alemar cheese company in Minnesota. I purchased some and we enjoyed (devoured) it the next day. The paste was silky and runny with layers of complex flavors: pronounced sweet grassy notes, very slight hint of mushroom and with just the right hint of funkiness. The rind was soft and mushroomy and highly palatable. I thought it stood above other domestic bries I've tried like the Marin french cheese versions.

Though not inexpensive, I highly recommend this cheese.
