Bleu (Philly)

we only had lunch at Bleu, but it was quite good. We sat outside, under the heaters. On a nicer day I'm sure the people watching would have been very nice. It's right on Rittenhouse square, just down from Rouge (another restaurant by the same guy, Neil Stein)

My husband had a burger with bacon and cheese, which was excellent - juicy and flavorful. The bacon was not very salty, and had a very nice smoky flavor. The burger was also smothered in grilled onions, and came with a huge pile of tasty french fries (really excellent frites).

I had a mixed greens salad with a great creamy ginger dressing. I want the recipe for this dressing, it was that good. We also had nice hard rolls that went well with my salad.

Service was OK, but given that there were only 2-4 tables occupied, we should have had a bit more attention. They set someone else's food in front of us, and when I said I hadn't ordered Salmon I had ordered Salad, the waitress thought maybe our server had heard me wrong, or maybe that I had actually said salmon. I said "I can't imagine she heard salmon when I said a salad, light on the dressing." Then she realized the food was for the next table. Oops.

Pretty expensive, as lunches go, but there was a lot of food. They have brunch specials on the weekend that are more breakfasty, but we were there at 2 and just missed them.

I'd go back, or try Rouge - I wonder if they share a kitchen?
