First, if I'm going to give out this recipe, it comes with a price. That is, my MIL is the worlds' best cook, the worlds' best baker, the worlds' most organized woman (ever put on this earth), and the worlds' most efficient at ''paying attention to detail'' that God has ever created. Having said that, there has never been one single time that this recipe didn't taste exactly the same or look exactly the same or get exactly the same reaction, every single time she prepared it. Again, it's the baby's favorite salad dressing bar none.
"Nan's Exclusive Bleu Cheese Salad Dressing"
4 oz brick quality bleu cheese (crumble it)
1 T w/w vinegar
1/3 cup milk
1/2 t paprika
1/2 t white pepper
1/3 cup sour cream
1/4 t *garlic oil (*yes you can, it's Durkee's, I have some, just ask your grocer)
1/4 cup mayonnaise
salt to taste (she says extra salt)
Blend it together, cling wrap it until you use. It freezes perfectly. MIL says to double this recipe, it's worth the effort.
Mailing off to our baby now, he's always asked for it. MIL/his gramma is happy to oblige.
So, make a salad tonight and use this wonderful stuff.
Her salad always is exactly the same ingredients:
1) iceberg lettuce pieces torn
2) cut up celery (on top of lettuce)
3) shards of carrot using a peeler (on top of celery)
4) chopped 'perfect' tomatoes (on top of carrots)
5) this dressing
On her table, she always puts out tiny pyrex bowls with:
1) garbanzo beans
2) sliced spring onions
for those who wanted to spike it up. Mostly though, we ate the "perfect salad as usual".
