I went to Villa Italian on Sepulveda in Culver City last night having remembered a good meal there about 15 years ago. The fact that it was still there after all that time, I thought was a good sign. Boy was I mistaken!
First, the place was almost empty on Sunday at 6pm. Then the waitress was not exactly rude, but definately not friendly. We ordered $6 a glass Chianti that she served us in hot glasses and warm wine that sort of tasted as if it was starting to turn. I sent it back which really endeared us to her. The antipasto salad was average and I think it was supposed to have onions which they forgot. Then the Pizza which I remembered to have been very good came out. It was burned and the toppings were so few you needed a microscope to find them. They were so thinly sliced so that they were dried out and tasteless. What a way to save a buck! It really was nasty. Trader Joes or CPK frozen would have been 10x better. Time for the Villa to retire.
