More on Blair's

I know there was a recent post about it below, but I had such a great meal last night, I wanted to reiterate just how good Blair’s on Rowena is.

A friend and I called a little after 7 and they said they could handle two at 8:30 or we could come in earlier and eat at the bar. We went in around 7:45 just to sit and drink some wine while waiting, and decided just to sit at the bar to eat, as the bartender was so pleasant. We had a terrific experience all around (I’d been once before and liked it very much, but last night was even better.)

We both started with Shrimp: my friend had the Grilled Prawns served with a salad. The prawns were perfectly cooked, very flavorful, just terrific. And the light, fresh salad complimented them very well. I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail, mainly to try the deviled eggs that came on the side. The Shrimp Cocktail was very good, and the deviled eggs were the best this southern boy has ever had. I could have eaten twelve of them, truly.

For entrees: She had the chicken, which she devoured. I, too, thought it was excellent. And the accompanying sauce and vegetables were perfect. I had the Big Eye Tuna with a coriander crust. All I can say is that two other people at the bar ended up ordering it because they saw how much I was enjoying it. And the sauce that came with the tuna rivaled any sauce I have had at the finest restaurants in LA or NYC.

We also had a huge order of French fries – these have to go on my list as some of LA’s best French fries. For the French Fry fanatics, Blair’s is a must. They come with spicy ketchup and a decadent garlic Aioli.

The bartender took great care of us, even though she was very busy, and the wines she recommended were excellent.

What a terrific place.
