Blacksalt room not open - back to square 1 on rehearsal dinner

Dennis S | Aug 1, 2005 08:09 AM

I finally tried Blacksalt last night. It was a research dinner for a rehearsal dinner in late Sept. Everything sounded right, and as far as the food I couldn't have been happier (the shrimp wrapped in serrano ham? fuggedaboutit). Also the decor was very pleasant.

However, the private room is not done, I'm told, and not likely by Sept.

We'll be at Rockwood Manor and have many from out of town, oh, and it's on a Friday night. I'm not torturing ourselves and our guests by going into Bethesda or DC. However, on the drive, it seems I could dip into north Arlington pretty easily, and also north Tyson's, both after crossing the Chain Bridge. Any thoughts on places in either of these locales? (I especially like the north Arlington idea).

Further ideas include
- have it catered at the Manor or around the corner at my soon to be father in law's house, or at the Marriott

- something near the Marriott on (or off) Democracy, but without going much further to the east (some guests are staying at the Marriott)

- Old Angler's Inn (I heard responses before about it not being great - how bad is it exactly, and what type of fare do they serve, and what about a private room, etc)

Everyone guided me right before to Blacksalt, but alas, they're not ready for us. *sigh*
