I was somewhat surprised to hear that BJ's is opening a new store in Gainesville VA, a booming area in the far western suburbs of DC. I am very curious to see what a new BJ's looks like -- the one I still go to occasionally in Fair Lakes VA is about 20 years old.
My regular stop is Costco because we have one much closer, but for certain things, such as canned fruits and vegetables, I still make a monthly BJ's run, and look forward to trying their new store.
Given the suburban family population in the Gainesville area, this store really should do very well. There's also a Wegmans out there now too. Fifteen years ago when you thought about Gainesville, it was a railroad crossing on US 29. Now it has the Jiffy Lube Live concert venue, thousands of homes, and some pretty good shopping. BJ's should fit right in.
