On the fifth and final day of being without power due to Hurricane Sandy, it was my husband's birthday so we decided to eat somewhere lighted and warm and rather nearby, so we chose Bistro Rollin. French Bistro food is my husband's favorite kind, so he was delighted to start with the escargot, which he pronounced perfect with a little hint of Pernod. I had the frisee salad with lardon and a poached egg. It was basically very good, though I thought that the lardon and the egg should be warm, and both were served cold. Also, there was no Roquefort cheese, which I feel this salad should have, but it was otherwise a very credible iteration with lots of meaty lardon. My son had the potato leek soup, which he thought was excellent. My husband and I both had the hanger steak and sauteed onions with fries, and I asked for some Bernaise with mine. It was very good. My son really liked his roast chicken, which he asked to be served with fries instead of the roast chicken. The only blip was a fairly long delay in getting our cocktails, but all in all, a very credible bistro meal, and we were happy to return home to lights blazing!
