Bistro at the Park in Lafayette: don't bother

chowfish | Nov 1, 200301:43 AM     19

Have lived in Lafayette for 5 years now but have never tried either restaurant in the Lafayette Park Hotel--Duck Club or Bistro at the Park. Decent review (2 stars/good overall; food: 2 1/2 stars) in SF Chronicle so decided to try it tonight. What a mistake. Came home and read the review again. Was it written a long time ago and there had been a lot of changes in the restaurant? No, it was written Oct. 17. Was I in the wrong restaurant? Nope. Reviewer called seating cozy--I call it cramped and uncomfortable. He said prices were inexpensive. I thought it was overpriced for what we got. He called the service 'polite and formal'. Our waiter was ok but we had to tackle someone when we walked in to let them know we'd like to be seated. I'm disappointed--other than Chow I have not found any restaurants in Lafayette that I'm willing to frequent.
