Bistro Daisy

Well, to be short and sweet: some kind of really odd way, as much as I liked Anton's cooking at La Petite, I'd never made it over to Bistro Daisy til tonite. My loss! Had an 8-top for my brother in law's birthday dinner, and they treated us well, service- and food-wise: duck confit with slices of duck breast over risotto; grilled sweetbreads with onions and pistachios(?/some nut); chocolate soup with brioche "croutons", and homemade strawberry ice cream that would make Ben and Jerry's look like it came from Wal-Mart. That was just MY order, too wine-afflicted to recite everyone else's food. Suffice it to say, we were all most pleased. Tip of the hat to BD, you treated us well!

An aside: how about a wine policy of the first 2 bottles brought in having ZERO corkage, and only starting with the 3rd bottle is there a charge of $15? That was a pleasant surprise! Didn't expect such generosity, but compared to most other restaurants in town, shows they REALLY mean it when they say the customer's enjoyment is their primary objective. And their list is well above average, BTW. Nice to know that when you come for a 65th birthday, they recognize a customer's desire to crack open older, special bottles befiting of the occasion. Normally their list would be more than sufficient. Bravo Bistro Daisy!
