So I checked out Bistro AIX on Steiner in SF, based on some of the recommendations from the cast here at Chowhound.
Monkfish wrapped in bacon (?), corn and kale.
Top Sirloin burger on focaccia.
Calamari was very good. They were premium pieces of calamari. The batter was light and fresh. Nice touch with fresh raw snappy cilantro on top. $8ish
Monkfish was pretty awesome. Awesome taste, great texture and flavor. However the bacon (maybe prosciutto?) was a little overpowering and salty. So you kinda got a fish textured ham filet. Still good tho. $20ish
The burger was decent. Nothing to write home to mom about. (In fact, i did take my mom.) Fries were nice - shoestring. Not overfried. $10ish
Overall, I'd definitely go back. I saw some, actually a lot, of people get the sirloin steak with maitre d butter with a side of spinach. maybe that was the flagship dish....
