Birthday Luncheon for 90 year old -- our choice

Thanks for all the suggestions for my mother's birthday luncheon now set for June 28th. People here suggested Felidia and some friends suggested it to my mother, so this was a good prospect. But they are not open for lunch on the weekends and they were also way beyond our price range ($8000 minimum for the private room). My mother was not enthused about Long Island City, so Water's Edge was out. We also looked at the Lotos Club (my mother has a friend who is a member). My SO had a vision of a landmark/brownstone type place and this met the criteria. But they had a 60 person minimum for the weekend (we'll be 35-40) and they were also pretty pricey. In the end, we decided on René Pujol which was suggested by one of the people here. My mother used to eat there frequently and liked the place. The private room is a dining room of an old brownstone (one flight up) and perfectly meets our design criteria. The base prix fixe 3 course luncheon meal is just $28, not including hors d'oeuvre or any beverages which are all at regular bar cost, so with tax and service, it will probably be around $80 per person. They have been very accommodating (including offering to carry a wheelchair bound guest to the room). I'll report back in July on how it went.
