Hi chowhounds! I'm needing some advice for a birthday dinner the end of April. A group of four couples are going to Vegas for my 50th. My husband is planning most of the stuff with input from the others - show, activities, food etc. However, I am supposed to choose the spot for my Bday dinner.
Where would you all suggest? Here is my criteria: a FUN atmosphere (not too stuffy), and great food without being overly expensive. I'm actually thinking of doing a tasting menu so that we can all have the same thing. We'll probably have a few bottles of wine too. I like Italian and American, but am not a huge steak fan (although the guys are).
We travel quite a bit and I'm a chowhound, researching carefully the restaurants before we go anywhere.
I'm kind of stumped because I want a kind of in-between restaurant: nice but not TOO nice, fun but not silly fun, casual but not TOO casual, memorable but not overly expensive. I also want to please all the people in our group. So, as you can see, I'm driving myself crazy.
I've been reading all the posts here and taking notes but am probably just as confused as I was before I started.
In New York I've eaten at several of Mario Batali's restaurants and Bobby Flay's. Todd English is an old favorite of mine from Boston. So I've been considering all of those guy's places in LV. I would love advice! We don't really have a budget for this but expect to spend over $500 without wine.
