Where would you go for your birthday?

Imagine you have been homebound for several months, tending to a newborn who seems to cry everytime you take him to any restaurant, causing one parent to eat and stress while the other walks and bounces. Now he is old enough to leave with a sitter while he sleeps at night while you finally get to put on some clothes that are not wash and wear and actually go out for a nice meal and some adult conversation. And it's your birthday to boot, so you are feeling celebratory. Where would you go?

I am looking for a place with wonderful food, more interested in coctails than wines, any cuisine, quiet enough to talk to my s.o., price is not much of an object (although I can't afford Urusawa prices), and I would love to do a tasting menu.

However, we won't be able to leave our house until approximately 8pm, so I don't know whether tasting menus are available beginning that late. Leaving from the westside. Thanks for your suggestions!
