The quest for the perfect torta continues...
I went to the Hacienda Grill (the newly opened one at Eastwood; they also have restaurants in Calera and on Valleydale Road) to check out their torta. It was a very tast sandwich, but I was still underwhelmed.
At $7.00, it was the most expensive torta I've ever eaten. The bread, proper torta bread, was larger than some and properly pressed. But they were stingy on the meat. And, sadly for me, they did not have a carnitas version. (BTW: Tacos are a whopping $2.50!!!!)
They offer tortas (and authentic tacos) with pastor, cabeza (beef's head, which they billed as beef cheeks), lengua and jamon (hopefully not Boar's Head). I had the cabeza which was well prepared, flavorful and tender. Just not plentiful enough.
I've tried them all over town (and have returned to several places because I liked them). But I'm still looking for torta nirvana. Any suggestions?
