Primavera already was my favorite coffee roaster in Birmingham. But they just jumped a notch in my estimation, because they're now selling Wright's Dairy milk.
If you've not tried the milk from this Anniston-area dairy, you're really missing out. Grass-fed cows, Jerseys that are known for richer milk. The milk is pasteurized but not homogenized, which means the cream rises to the top and flavor is not lost in the process of blasting the fat into the milk.
The whole milk is some of the best you'll ever taste. But the 1 percent, to my family's taste, is richer than homogenized whole milk we get in the grocery store.
Primavera originally carryied the whole milk only, but added the 1 percent at our request. As with anything that's craft-produced, it costs more: $6.99 a gallon. Man it's good, though.
For those not familiar with Primavera as a roaster: they use the best of the best beans, each type specially roasted in small batches to bring out their qualities. Several of their coffees are single estate, or from specialized cooperatives known for the best beans.
They do cuppings on Saturdays, and have a thriving coffee-brewing business. Primavera is in Cahaba Heights, on White Oak Road, in the same plaza as Miss Myra's barbecue (which fronts Cahaba Heights Road).
Many 'Hounders have been looking for outlets that sell Wright's, since the store closed on U.S. 280. We can add Primavera to the list.
