I posted a bit about dinner in Nashville at Husk on the Ky and Tn, board.

Dinner in Birmingham on the second night of our trip was at Hot and Hot Fish Club. We've been to Highlands Grill a number of times and I have the H&H cookbook and wanted to give it a try. We were not disappointed.

We split an appetizer of their Spicy Gazpacho with a Tomato Sorbet, Cucumbers and Summer Squash. My husband had the Hot and Hot Noodle Bowl. It featured strips of pig skin noodles with a bull frog leg, shrimp, blue crab, bok choy and wood ear mushrooms. It was very good but it was the first time they had served it and did not give thought as to how a diner was going to get the crab out of the shells.

I had the pan seared skate wing with a melange of artichokes, cherry tomatoes, summer squash and freshly dug new potatoes. We split a hot chocolate souffle with creme anglaise and whipped cream. All was very good and it is another place to go back to.

Lunch before leaving town was at another Frank Stitt restaurant, Chez Fonfon. I had a croque monsieur that was quite tasty, the sandwich was big so half of it went into our cooler. Doug had a hanger steak salad that was very good. I guess we'll have to go back again and eat at his Bottega restaurant. Then on to Ga.
