Many of the "chain" stores will often try to dump overstock wine at 50% off or more pricing. It is easy to fall prey as often name winemakers products are featured, so you think you may be getting a great deal on a wine. Often, the sale sticker will be accompanied with something to the effect that "all sales are final"
Yes, I have learned the hard way, thinking I've gotten a steal, but finding a wine that is on the turn, if it hasn't already.
To me, this is akin to a grocer selling spoiled meat. It also does a disservice to the winemaker. An unsuspecting consumer may chose to never purchase from that winery again.
So my philosophy is, when in doubt, and on a budget, stick with the Yellowtail !!!!!
