Visited Big Tom's Backyard today for lunch. Small roadside kind of place on rte 66, that was formerly a seasonal burger place a while back. Tom's big draw seems to be the gyro...he makes them with pork, tzatziki,l, t and onion, wrapped in a pita. Very tasty, though hard to wrangle, nice contrast of textures with the warm gyro meat, cool tzatziki, and chewy pita. Tom also offers burgers, dogs, and a schnitzel sandwich of all things. The schnitzel is pounded very thin, tender, crispy, with cucumber l, t, and cheese. Though being fried it didn't seem in any way oily or greasy. Talk about fried, Tom also makes homemade french fries, skin on, golden and delicious. Lots of other choices make up a varied menu here. If you visit, be patient as all items are made ala minute, and take lotsa napkins when munching on a gyro.
