It's late and I'm half asleep, but just a quick note that I tried Surya, an Indian restaurant in the West Village tonight, and was it ever good. I tried the chicken chettinad (chicken with a ton of herbs and spices, including fennel, coriander, cumin, chili pepper, cloves, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and more). It was moderately hot, had huge chunks of white meat chicken, and was truly mesmerizing. There were so many flavors in it that I couldn't pick them all out.
Naan was excellent, too, as was the mulligatawny soup. Atmosphere was pretty plain, but it seemed clean and service was very good.
Off to a couple more restaurants in the city tomorrow, then back to Beantown before the snows...
