My sister and brother-in-law and my husband and I are joining forces to give my niece -- their daughter-in-law -- a 30th birthday to remember. We have booked her and her husband into a NY hotel for 5/21 and also booked them massages at the spa in the hotel. We have gotten them tix for Avenue Q on Sunday and reserved brunch for them at Norma's.
I'm looking for a fabulous place to send them to for dinner on Saturday night. Their preferences run to French/Continental/Italian food. It could be anywhere in Manhattan pretty much but for what it's worth their hotel is in the 50's on Lex. I've been thinking Gramercy Tavern or Tocqueville but I just haven't come up with a fabulous idea. (I like Vice Versa but they have been there already.) It would be great if the Rainbow Room were still open but no such luck! It doesn't have to be totally over the top extravagant -- I am not sending them to Per Se for example -- I would like some place which had some intimacy to it, some amount of quiet, and wonderful food, service and wine.
I appreciate your thoughts and your help!
