Big Green Egg - Is it worth it/cheaper versions?

carophil11 | Apr 30, 201703:39 PM     19

My boyfriend has been drooling over kamado-style grills for years. His birthday is in July, and I want to go in on one with a couple of other people for him.

I know that the Big Green Egg is top-of-the-line, but I'm looking for something a little less expensive. Right now I'm eyeing one from Vision Grills for about $600.00, but there are so many out there... I'm pretty conflicted.

We grill a lot during the spring, summer, and fall, and just have a $40 charcoal grill right now, but I know how much he wants a kamado, and I really wanna get him one.

Is the Big Green Egg worth it, or are there cheaper versions out there that won't let me down?

Edit: We do a lot of our grilling with indirect heat, or slow and low. Any $600.00 or below recommendations are much appreciated!
