Bidding on Cup of Excellence coffee beans

I read that Cup of Excellence awarded beans were pretty much off limits to the normal purchaser bc you have to buy it in bidding auctions where only big time roasters bid for hundreds of pounds.

Like..you can't just buy a few lbs to roast and make coffee at home.

But Invalsa seems to have bought a large amount of COE beans, in 2nd place.

I'm willing to spend $10-$1l a lb but not $15 and higher that they are asking for.

But here's the link if some guys are interested? I'm interested in hearing their reviews to see if COE award winning beans are really that good or different??

For the "recognition" and subsequent higher price, there's a surprising lack of information on the link. Is it a blend of Costa Rican coffees? A single varietal? How about some COE tasting notes? Or even personal opinions? I'm not familiar with the COE grading/tasting/evaluating process, so I wouldn't know what to expect from an award winner.

I go thru an average of about 1 lb/wk, so I've been buying green beans in amounts totalling 60 lbs per order. I choose 6 different blends or varietals and order 10# of each to help lower my costs. I usually order 2 or 3 kinds that I know I like, and then fill in the rest with new ones (based on the tasting notes) to see what else I might like. My preferences run towards East African and Arabian, and the only Costa Rican I buy any more is Tarrazu.
