Bialetti pizza stone preheating?

hotpie0523 | Apr 10, 201509:47 AM     6

I recently received this pizza stone for my bridal shower: http://www.amazon.com/Bialetti-Piece-...

In the flurry of unwrapping, washing, reorganizing, etc. we tossed the instructions and box. I found the literature on directionsforme.org (http://www.directionsforme.org/index....) but I've got a question:

It says "Preheat the stone in your oven for 15 minutes at 450 degrees F."

Does that mean preheat the oven to 450, then put in the pizza stone and let it heat for 15 minutes? (I'm questioning this because I seem to remember reading somewhere that a pizza stone should be started in a cold oven so that it heats up along with the oven. And I've heard of people storing their stones full-time in the oven, which would contradict this approach.)

OR, does it mean preheat the stone and oven together, then let the stone heat another 15 minutes once the oven reaches 450F?

I have seen some negative reviews about the stone cracking or breaking, so I want to make sure I'm treating it right! But I can see how that happens with somewhat fuzzy instructions.
