I think Fatoosh BBQ on Henry Street was a chowhound type of place, unique food that you could not really get anywhere else.

It was rather simple fare and a rather homely environment, but I usually loved their hummus and red pepper salad, and I don't know where else you can get those fresh pitas they made there..

You can find this type of stuff all over the heights but not in the same combo - the salads, the fresh warm large pitas and the dishes (grilled shrimp, chicken vegtable - fatoosh crazy platter)

The falafels were pretty good too, in the sake of not creating grease balls they tended to take them out of the oil early, I guess, leaving them a little mushy inside and naturally green from the mixture.

I am sure many people did not love this place but it is gone know and I thought it was unique, its predecessor, Fatoosh Pizza on Hicks was awesome for awhile back in 92 to 95 but seemed to have lost it

anyone have the real scoop on these places?
