My husband has a new aide coming by a few times a week, she is from Haiti and she is only just learning to speak English. She saw my interest in food right away and insisted on the two of us making a potato and carrot salad dish, one of her specialties apparently, but she was surprised to see I don't have "bettrave" in my fridge. She wrote it out so I think I have the name right, at least!
I pulled my Edible Forager off the shelf, and she pointed out something described as a "corm", which looked like a turnip. Anyway she said she'd pick up some from her neighborhood and bring it tomorrow so I can see, but in the meantime, thought I'd do a little investigating just for the fun of it.
