Has anyone tried this place about a block away from Lalimes on Gilman?
The owner of the coffee store next door said the food was excellent with French influences. From what I gather on the web, it is not authentic Vietnamese, but Cal-Vietnamese. It gets a lot of thumbs up and there is a postitive, but brief Chowhound post (link below).
They seem to be known for their crab (windows are etched with crabs). There is even a recipe for Mama Lans Crab on SOAR and the book Coastal Cooking With John Shields" also has it.
I guess this place has been in business for quite a while since the recipe appeared in the SF Chronicle in 1992.
Other recommended dishes gleaned off the web:
Coconut Noodle Soup
Country Garlic Catfish
Lemon Mousse with Fresh Berries
duck noodle soup
So, any opinions?
