Ben's Little Mexico - Odessa

If you ever find yourself in Odessa, Texas, do yourself a favor and stop in for some of the best Mexican food in Texas (or the world for that matter). I was in Odessa this week for a funeral and we decided to grab some Mexican food for lunch (When in Rome.....). My cousin suggested Ben's Little Mexico. It has been around for 40 years (with a few location and name changes, but same ownership and menu).

The food is a combo of Mexican and Tex-Mex. You can get your enchiladas rolled or stacked, get asada, guisada, migas, chili verde, etc. I had 2 cheese enchiladas with green sauce and two tacos. OUTSTANDING! The green sauce is a must have. It has a great level of spicyness that doesn't take away from the flavor of the tomatillos. The tacos shells are made when you order them. The salsa is a little runnier than I like, but good none the less. Even the rice and beans deserve an appreciative nod.

We also had guacamole before the entrees. They have 2 options. One is your run of the mill guac, and the other is a chunkier version that has more spice. We went for the latter and it was the right call.

My wife had the relleno and a cheese enchilada. She raved about the relleno. Whenever we go for Mexican (which is A LOT) she always gets the relleno. She went as far as to say that it was the best she has ever had.

It is located at 8th street and Dixie beside Dunlap's department store. If you find yourself anywhere near Odessa around meal time do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't be disappointed.
