Benriner vs chopper vs food processor

NotSoHot | Aug 26, 201711:43 AM     8

I've had both the original and jumbo benriner in my Amazon Wishlist for years. Got a $25 gift certificate and finally thought I'd buy one. But now I'm stuck: they've come out with newer editions--some are $77/79! But the main problem is that I realize that I do very little slicing. Maybe a few times a year I slice potatoes and carrots, but for the most part I'm chopping for stews and soups. From what I can gather, it's just the smaller Benriner that will julienne--which I could then chop crosswise, but many complain that the original one is too narrow. The newer jumbo one gets great marks for slicing only.

Chopper contraptions look so big and bulky and the reviews are iffy. Can anyone offer suggestions? I do own a very large Cuisinart food processor which is a pain to get out. Would also be up to suggestions for a smaller sized processor. Thanks!
