Ben & Jack's Steakhouse: Quickie Report

I had an excellent meal here! Went this past Friday with 2 friends. The last person in our party showed up 30 minutes late and the host was very accomodating. Started the night by having a glass of wine at the bar. The bartender was friendly and generous with the pour. The wine selection was decent but a little pricey. The menu was standard steakhouse style. We ordered thick cut bacon to start which could have been a meal itself. It was incredibly rich and flavorful. For dinner, I had the bone in Rib Eye($37) and my friends had the porterhouse($75 for 2). The rib eye was HUGE (18oz but looked 22). The porterhouse was done Luger's style. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. The char on the beef added great texture. The porterhouse probably ranked second behind Peter Luger's but the rib eye was the best I'd had in the city. I've been to almost every major steakhouse in NY. The service was friendly and efficient. I just had an overall great experience there. Just go, you won't be disappointed!
