Went to Belgian Fries on Commercial yesterday, anticipating the double-fried, crisp potato goodness of yore, and was very disappointed. It was mid-afternoon, so perhaps they had let the oil come down in temp, but unforgivable results. They were pale, mealy, tasteless. And was the mayo always that terrible? It had a slick, sour tang more like cheap sour cream or crap cream cheese than mayo unctuousness. It has been at least 2 years since I went. The man told me that the original owner opened a shop on Denman that didn't last. Is Fritz any better?
