Bel-Aire Diner (Astoria)

Warren | Mar 9, 2005 12:31 PM

Can anyone comment on the Bel-Aire Diner (31-91 21st Street), which the Daily News recently picked as the best diner in all of the five boroughs of NYC? The Bel-Aire received a rating of 3.5 of a possible 4, which is midway between "excellent" and "extraordinary." Last year's winner, the Neptune Diner in Astoria, also received a 3.5 rating, but dropped to second place because of "salty gravy on the turkey platter." The Court Square Diner in LIC also was rated 3.5, but had to settle for third place due to "overcooked eggs."
