Does anyone know of a place in the New York area which sells jian bing, or does anyone have a recipe?
(Jian bing are made from a batter that's spread thinly on a griddle, much like Parisian crepes. During cooking, though, an egg is broken and smeared on one side, the crepe is flipped over, and a brown sauce is spread over the other. The whole thing is then wrapped around a bunch of scallions.)
These crepes are sold for pennies by street vendors all over Beijing. Despite being humble and simple, they ranked among my favorite foods the year I spent traveling around Taiwan, China and Hong Kong. Any leads most welcome...
