beignets in harlem

just have to share. les ambassades is a senegalese cafe on frederick douglass btwn 118/119th st. lively in the evenings, serving up meat/fish dishes. spicy chicken kabob sandwich good but on the greasy side, merguez not spicy enough. baguettes okay, croissants hit or miss.

but today i had a beignet. delicious. lightly fried up outside, thin layer of sugar on top, chewy doughy lovely inside. what a doughnut aspires to be, and better imho than the donut plant.
