Hi all,

I just posted a related question on another thread [https://www.chowhound.com/post/nyc-re...] so please forgive the spamming, but keeping this separate as it's a rather different request.

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying a little sandwich shop, which I would ultimately like to transform into a late-night spot featuring Spanish-inspired snacks. The place has a beer and wine license and is in a great location for nightlife traffic, but has a tiny kitchen with no range hood, so I'd like to rely a lot on beverage sales.

Before I take the plunge and start working 70-hour weeks, I'm visiting friends in NYC for a week and will also take the opportunity to do some research. What bars or other nightlife venues do you think do a great job despite not being able to serve spirits? I'd be especially interested in places with creative low-proof cocktails, and places doing a lot with sherry and/or vermouth.

FWIW I'll be staying on the Upper East Side, but can go anywhere in the five boroughs. Thanks in advance!
