My idea would be to go to serious beer bars and ask.
For example, the Blind Tiger does beer and cheese tastings all the time. For some reason, the person pulling the beers behind the bar has zero knowledge of beer but I bet if you asked around, you'd get a good answer.
Also, Garrett Oliver who is the Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery does a Beer and Cheese pairing class at ICM. I took the class several years ago and I'll see if I still have my notes on that. But the Brewery in Williamsburg is open on Friday and Saturday. I see him there often, he's a real friendly guy and I bet if you got to chatting with him, he'd help you out. He's doing a World BBQ and beer pairing class next, BTW.
