In my city (charlotte, NC) over the recent years,with the influx of immigrants from Mexico we have seen a great deal of what we would call "authentic" mexican restaurants popping up. I stopped at one today called Taqueria Mexico - great little "hole-in-the-wall of a place. The offered tacos , and other menu items with tripe Tripa), beef tongue (Lengua) beef brain, and chitlins. In the past I would never consider eating these things, as I was never presented these things growing up - funny how so many of us will not consider trying something that we don't consider "familiar"- But I've been getting more adventurous in the last few yaers, in no small part due to Chowhound.
My question is this - what do these items taste like? I don't want to try something only to immediately spit it out as horrible. I know that some of theses tastes e aquired tastes
