Up to this point I have always used my pressure cooker for my beef stew but since I am now the recipient of an instant pot I was going to try that. Does anyone have a good recipe that like to share. Thank you
I have been making beef stew for more years than I can count, and I NEVER made it as delicious and tender until I began using this Instant Pot recipe. ENJOY!!!
I used a recipe almost identical to that and the potatoes almost completely disintegrated as did about a third of the meat and lots of the carrots. It was delicious but a bit disappointing. Great for sopping up with bread but not what I’d hoped for.
Your description states my concern as well, over done everything. I like to add ingredients in stages, it produces a better final product.
I agree, I prefer to build layers of flavor. Each ingredient maintains its texture and taste.
Instant Pot Stew is not fine dining, but beef stew can be.
When your coop has been without gas (no stove or oven) since October, you do the best you can with the equipment you have.
Food can be “fuel” or “entertainment”.
Often, slow cooker/instant pot food is fuel. Convenient, tasty, and comforting.
Chili and Stews can be prepared to be able to taste each ingredient or can be prepared to taste homogeneous.
Horrible situation, I can't imagine no gas available since last October. Lousy coop?
I have to ask, bxgirl, but are you a chicken with super-poultry abilities?
bxgirl - would you happen to be in Bayside? We may be neighbors! I survived with an induction hot plate.
WOW. I've made this several times, and my potatoes held their shape, the beef was incredibly tender, and the the entire dish was delicious. Never had the problem you described.
I agree. This recipe is magical. I keep the veggies very chunky as they kind of break off into the right size when serving.
We like this one; it’s Tex-mex rather than “classic” (I don’t like potatoes in my stew).
