I noticed your post lower on this page and want to mention a place in Bed-Stuy that may interest you. While I admit that I've never been there, I have friends who rave about it: Akwaaba Cafe. It's on MacDonough Street, between Lewis and Stuyvesant Avenues (A train to Utica, or the #26 bus). It serves upscale Southern food in an elegant atmosphere. Check out their website, www.akwaaba.com. It contains photos and has their menu. I think it's owned by some heavyweight at Essence magazine. If you go, please post about it. My wife and I have been meaning to try their brunch, but have yet to.
