Beckta Revisited - Review

On a previous thread I had chatted about an evening at Beckta with 3 other couples. The consensus had been that everyone had enjoyed their meals, thought the service was excellent, but no one thought their meal had been outstanding. I was the most diappointed as I had ordered a Vegetarian main course (I am not vegeatarian) as I was curious to see what they would provide. It really was not acceptable for the standards that we were expecting. I did say, at the time, that I would return and try the tasting menu.

Dinner Saturday night at Beckta was excellent. My husband and I ordered the tasting menu along with two glasses of Riesling and a bottle of Ridge 2003 Zinfandel ($75.00) which was wonderful.

We enjoyed all the courses....some highlights.....
A perfect Beach Oyster, Pan Seared Foie Gras and a Foie Gras Terrine with Sweetbreads, A wonderful wild Atlantic Scallop with local Ramps, Lamb Delmonico (perfect little medallions of lamb), An eclectic selection of cheeses (6) from Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick, truly excellent.

Our service was impeccable...our waitress totally knowlegable about the food, friendly, but professional.

Our main concern is that the seating is very tight. We were at a table for two seated between two other tables of two. Takes a little away from the overall enjoyment.
We will return! Cost? $ 294.00 before tip
