Bean Buzz -- Source for Good Coffee in Oak Park

Here’s a source for good whole bean coffee in Oak Park: Hayes’ Coffees. We’ve been buying coffee from this local merchant for years. He roasts his own premium beans in small batches, has a very small store with a very wide selection, and his pricing is good. Example: 100% Jamaican for $9.99/lb, Yemen Mattari for $10.90/lb and Organic Sumatra Gayo Mountain for $10.96/lb. If you want to get crazy with the coffee thing, he’s also got an Arabian Yemen Ismali for $143.50/lb (never had it – but if you buy some, I'd like to know what you thought of it).

Mr. Hayes is a former Marine, loquacious, a gentleman, and a good guy who is always offering some kind of deal (2 for 1, 25% off, etc.). He even ships free – and pays the sales tax! – to anywhere in continental US.

Well worth a visit – he’s also got a good selection of teas and rolled oats (?).
