B'day dinner

My birthday is coming up, and my wife is taking me out. We could go back to one of the places we like (Ouest, Grammercy Tavern, L'Impero etc.) but I'd like to get some suggestions for new places.

Some criteria:

Expense: I wouldn't say 'money is no object' but mostly just to rule out the totally crazy places. The places listed above are all within our budget. MASA isn't.

Cuisine: I like almost everything; particularly most of Asia and all of Italy. I am a very adventerous eater, my wife much less so (not a picky eater, but not into things like offal and sushi). Although it's my night, I want her to be happy too. We aren't big on classical French cuisine.

Atmosphere: I'd like a quiet, adult restaurant. We go out with our kids all the time. Four times a year we go out just the two of us. Even among adult places, I like quiet (I love the food at Babbo, but the music makes the evening much less enjoyable to me).

One final note, my b'day is July 2. It's likely to be hot. So we probably don't want super-heavy food that would be great in the winter.

I look forward to your suggestions.
