B'day celebration for group of 9, south end, jp or rosi

So..it is a friend's birthday...she lives in JP...and we're looking for a spot to have a nice dinner to celebrate her birthday --JP/South End/Roslindale area maybe? We all just went to *the place that used to be The Alchemist, spacing on the name right now* and that was good but she'd like to try somewhere different. Plus, it was pretty loud. Dogwood came to mind but it's sort of ordinary (i.e a spot we often go to) The old Geoffrey's in Roslindale might have fit the bill, but since the new owners took it over I'm a bit skeptical. Leading contender is actually the new Geoffrey's in the south end/back bay tho' that'll present parking issues for some folks, but that's ok.

Any other ideas? Ideally it'd be a spot with a relaxing, casual vibe (w. similar menu, i.e. comfort/pub type food, nothing too high end)..but also a place that will be able to accomodate 9 people. Somewhere maybe like the Cambridge Common (but that isn't an option b/c of location)...good beer selection, pretty good food..Price point on the lower end ($12-16 entrees maybe?) so that's why Geoffrey's seemed like a good option. Coda also comes to mind, but at least w Geofrrey's there's the parking lot across the street for those that are driving. Not as close for Coda.

Thoughts? She thought for sure I'd have some ideas (and usually, I do) but I am slightly struggling w this one.

Thanks!
